On September 1, 2007 our regularly scheduled ride became a benefit for Dawn Robbins, her husband is a fellow rider on tampasportbikes.com, Jody, BusaFan. In April, the family received grave news regarding Dawn's health. She, at 32 years young, had developed stage 2 breast cancer. In 4 months, her cancer moved very aggressively into Stage 3. Now spreading to her lymph nodes and blood stream. She is currently scheduled for a masectomy, however, even this may not be enough. For more information http://www.dawnrobbins.com. As a women's riding group, we stepped up to help the family, who does not have the insurance and income to keep up with the medical expenses. By selling guesses as to how many miles the ride would be, GirlRiders raised over $700 in only one week! I am so proud of this group, and thrilled that we could help Dawn and her family.
